3. Who created or supported these events?
4. What was the contribution of education to the economy?
5. What was the contribution of religious values?
6. How were slaves treated compared to laborers?
7. What were conditions in factories like?
8. Why was slavery not ended sooner?
9. In what ways did the North hold power over the South?
10. What is the correlation between the war and the economy in general?

The Economy and it's Contribution to the Civil War, What do I know?

I will split my paper into three economic aspects cotton, slaves and industry to explain how the economy contributed to the war.

Cotton: cotton is picked in bolls, seeds are harvested, southern economy prospers due to cotton, used in textiles, processed by Northern factories, cotton gin made to harvest seeds, slaves picked cotton, labor intensive and "cotton is king"

Slaves: hard working, highly valueable property, lowest members of society, three fifths rule, passive aggressive and militant rebellion, dispute slaves vs. wage slaves, stripped of many rights, Southern economy was reliant on slaves, "necessary evil", abolitionist societies created, Licoln opposed slavery and Emancipation Proclomation

Industry: modernity, Tariff of Abominations, wage labor, Protestant support, education increase, free labor, technology usage, railroads, turnpikes and canals built, basis of Northern economy, turned the United States into a world power, and inventions created

Civil War

I chose the Civil War because I am a history major and currently taking the Civil War class. I am highly interested in this topic and it will benefit me in both my English and Civil War classes. I will be writing about the causes and effects of the war. The Northern and Southern perspectives will be displayed on various topics. I will also address the effects of slavery being a cause of the war and how it effects how it was fought.
